The Gold Coast Academy of Sport believes that sport is for everyone and that it is essential in gaining communication, social, and physical skills. We are pleased to be able to conduct a specific AWD Basketball program.
Previous programs have seen a dramatic improvement in an athletes’ self-confidence, social awareness, and self-esteem which contributes to the empowerment of people with an intellectual disability.
The program is conducted under the guidance of highly credentialed coaches. Players are also given the opportunity to be involved in core educational sessions to extend their knowledge in how to become a better overall athlete.
An annual program is normally run from September to December with regular squad training sessions focused on individual skill development and some basic understanding of Nutrition and Body Maintenance.
